No account needed. What Cinewide keeps stays on this computer. If you sign in to sync, your settings, your presets and the choice you made for each site, with the site's name, are kept with your account. Cinewide never sends anything about what you watch. You can delete your account, and everything kept with it, at any time.
What Cinewide keeps on your computer
- One setting: whether the button on the video shows.
- For each site you made a choice for: the site's name, and what a press does there.
- Your presets: the name you gave each, and its mode, zoom and position.
- The sites where you turned "Always on this site" on, and whether "Only on ultrawide screens" is on.
- One counter of how often you pressed Smart, up to five, and of how often one hint was shown, up to three. It decides when that hint shows, and is never sent anywhere.
- Of a preset or a site's choice you deleted: that it was deleted, with the site's name for a site's choice, so that it does not come back.
All of it stays in your browser, on this computer. Removing Cinewide removes it.
What Cinewide looks at, and does not keep
To find the black bars, Cinewide looks at the picture of the video you are watching, on your computer. It keeps no picture and sends none. It keeps no list of what you watched and no list of the pages you visited, and sends neither.
If you sign in
An account is needed only for the trial, for Pro and for sync. Signing in is a 6-digit code sent to your email address.
- Your email address is kept with your account, to send you the code and to know the account by.
- There is no password.
- Your computer keeps that you are signed in, and as whom, until you sign out.
- Signing out leaves everything else on your computer as it is.
If you sign in to sync
Sync is part of Pro. With it, these are kept with your account, so that your other computers have them:
- your settings;
- your presets;
- the choice you made for each site, with the site's name.
Each is kept with the time it was last changed, which is how the newer of two changes wins. Nothing else is kept. The sites of "Always on this site", the counter, and anything about a video or a title never leave your computer.
When you delete a preset or a site's choice, the deletion is kept with your account for 90 days, so that your other computers delete it too, and is then removed from the server.
If you buy Pro
Pro is sold by Paddle, which takes the payment, sends the invoice and handles the tax. Cinewide never sees your card.
- Paddle receives what a purchase needs: your email address, your country, your payment details, and what you bought.
- Cinewide is told that your account has Pro, of which kind, and until when. That is kept with your account.
- Your computer keeps a copy of that, so that Cinewide does not have to ask each time.
- The trial needs no card and no payment: nothing goes to the payment provider for it.
Who else receives anything
- Supabase, which runs Cinewide's server, in the European Union (Ireland): your account's email address, what sync keeps with the account, and whether the account has Pro.
- Resend, which sends the 6-digit code: your email address, and the code.
- Paddle, when you buy Pro: what is listed above.
- Cloudflare, which serves this site: what any web server sees of a visit, such as the address of your connection. This site sets no cookies and has no analytics.
Nobody else receives anything, and nothing is sold.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account, and everything kept with it, at any time: "Account" in Cinewide, then "Delete account".
- Your account, your email address with it, and everything sync kept with it are deleted from Cinewide's server, at once and for good.
- What is on your computer stays, and Cinewide goes on working with it.
- You are signed out. Signing in again with the same address makes a new, empty account.
What is kept of a purchase
When an account that bought Pro is deleted, the record of the purchase is kept: what was bought, when, for how much and in which country, because tax and accounting law requires it. Paddle keeps it, as the seller of the purchase, for as long as the law that applies to Paddle requires, and Nguyen Tuan Anh can still see it in Paddle's records for sellers. Cinewide's server keeps no copy. It says nothing about what you watched. Everything else of the account is deleted.
What Cinewide never does
- It never sends anything about what you watch.
- It has no analytics and no tracking, in the extension or on this site.
- It sells nothing about you and shows no advertising.
